A record breaking NZB Ready to Run Sale this week at Karaka delivered plenty of pinhook success with 18 two year-olds selling for $300,000 or more above their yearling purchase price, so let’s take a look at some of the best of them.
Heading the list was Riverrock Farm’s Churchill (IRE) colt from unraced Pierro mare Bagitol that was sold for $775,000 to Patella Bloodstock to be the second highest priced horse of the sale.
He was sourced from Inglis Premier for just $25,000 from the draft of Twin Hills Stud.
The Inglis Premier Yearling Sale was also the source of the next most successful pinhook with Shane McGrath purchasing a Toronado (IRE) colt from Attractive for $97,500 from the Newhaven Park draft.
Consigned by BMD Bloodstock, he sold for $625,000 Ms B Yim and in appearance takes plenty of input from his dam sire Zabeel and has a big female family featuring Group I winners Loving Gaby and Velocitea.
Proisir delivered the goods for Riversley Park with a gelding from Miss Vegas selling for $650,000 to Andrew Williams Bloodstock / Hong Kong Bloodstock.
He was sourced from the Highline Thoroughbreds draft at Karaka Book 1 for $160,000 and is from the family of world champion Winx and more recent star gelding on the up Gringotts.
Lyndhurst Farm hit a home run with their Ole Kirk colt from Press Box that sold for $550,000 to Magus Equine.
A colt with a big pedigree being from a sibling to Group I winners Press Statement and Pressday, he was snapped up from the Vinery draft at Inglis Classic for $120,000 by AGR Racing.
