G1 Pedigree Watch – Three New Girls

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 18

Racing on Saturday in Australasia produced three new Group I winning fillies / mares and all of them super interesting for different reasons.

The $1.5million Group I MRC Thousand Guineas (1600m) was won by Another Prophet, who was also posting her first stakes win, read about her here.

Another Prophet is the third G1 winner for I Am Invincible’s speed sire son Brazen Beau and is also the third stakes-winner for her dam Set to Skelter, a remarkable producer that has now earned blue hen status with five foals to race all winners and her other stakes-winners are Group winning mares Prophet’s Thumb and More Prophets. . This family has been gold for Bell River Thoroughbreds and is a work in progress as Prophet’s Thumb and More Prophets are both now at stud as well.

She is the 15th SW and first G1 winner for Zabeel’s under-rated sire son Reset as a broodmare sire. Interestingly, Brazen Beau has had four runners from mares by Reset and all are winners that also include stakes-placed Boldhino.

I Am Invincible and Zabeel combine in the pedigrees of 29 SW’s that also include another G1 winner by Brazen Beau in Zapateo, who is from a daughter of Lonhro.

The $1million Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clark Stakes (1400m) was won by quality mare Kimochi in the Yulong colours, read about her here.

With three previous G1 placings and multiple Group wins, Kimochi was overdue for a G1 win and became the first G1 winner for her young sire Brave Smash and the second for I Am Invincible as a broodmare sire. She comes from a European female family with fourth dam Infamy a Group I winner by Shirley Heights.

Both Brave Smash and I Am Invincible stand at Yarraman Park so I think we can expect to see a lot more of this nick as time unfolds, but for now it’s one for one!

The Group I NZ 2000 Guineas (1600m) was won by an Aussie bred filly in Captured by Love, who was sourced from Magic Millions by David Ellis, click to read about her.

Captured by Love is bred the exact same way as this year’s Caulfield Guineas winner Private Life being the 17th G1 winner for Written Tycoon and sixth G1 winner as a broodmare sire for Snitzel. That year Written Tycoon spent at Arrowfield is proving pivotal with that crop of foals born in 2021 already producing eight stakes-winners that also include G1 winners Lady of Camelot and Velocious, who is from a daughter of Snitzel.

The Written Tycoon x Snitzel cross has produced 20 winners from 32 runners and the three SW’s bred this way are all G1 winners from the 2021 foal crop.
