Impending's Daughter Kin Triumphs in Village Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday November 16

A race-to-race stakes double for Godolphin with the 5-year-old mare Kin coming with a well-timed finish to win the Listed  Sportsbet Village Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

A valuable stakes win for Kin (mage Grant Courtney)

Ridden by Jamie Kah for James Cummings, the daughter of Impending earned a maiden stakes win when defeating the 4-year-old American Pharoah (USA) mare Pharari by a neck with the 4-yar-old Grunt mare Miraval Rose three-quarters of a length back in third.

Kin advances her record to four wins, five seconds, and four thirds from 23 starts with earnings of $508,200.

“It's a huge result, very satisfying, and that sets her up as a broodmare for years to come,” Cummings said.

“It’s great for the team at Carbine to have had another winner here this afternoon at Caulfield. She's been rock solid this prep. She was excellent here first up, just didn't quite get enough pace on there in the straight race at Flemington.

Jamie rode it the right way, coming off the pace. Had she been a little bit further back, she might have got even more cover, but she had her within striking distance. Jamie got it spot on, so great to see she's got her eye in. She's timing them well, and not easy to do on a mare like Kin, who's got such a low winning record, but to have been kept in training with a bit of faith to get that stakes win is very, very valuable.”

Kin is the first foal of the Listed BRC Nudgee Handicap winner Kinshachi.

The daughter of Commands is a half-sister to the Group II Danehill Stakes winner Aichi (Strategic), who was third in the Group 1 VRC Newmarket.

Kinshachi has a yearling filly by Brazen Beau and foaled a Brazen Beau colt on October 14.

Kin is the third stakes-winner for Larneuk Stud’s dual Group 1 winner Impending (Lonhro).
