First Crop Yearlings by Warhorse at Premier

Champion New Zealand 2YO Warhorse will have his first crop yearlings on offer at the 2018 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne next month and they will follow on from the success of his first sales yearling that sold for $45,000 at the Tasmanian Magic Millions on Thursday.

The best son of outstanding Australian speed sire General Nediym, Warhorse quickly made his mark at two winning the Group III ARC Eclipse Stakes and then the Group I ARC Diamond Stakes over 1200 metres beating subsequent Group I winning filly Rollout the Carpet.

Warhorse is the best son of General NediymCompetitive with the best of his age at three, he added another stakes win to his tally and was a close up third to Sacred Falls in the Group I New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas as well as placing in the Group II ATC Apollo Stakes at weight-for-age in Sydney.

On the New Zealand 3YO Free Handicap of 2013 from 1200 to 1600 metres he rated just behind the big guns Sacred Falls and Dundeel.

While Sacred Falls and Dundeel have gone to stud respectively in New Zealand and the Hunter Valley, Warhorse has found his home at Bombora Downs in Victoria with his oldest progeny now yearlings.

Eligible for the lucrative Super VOBIS scheme, they should not be overlooked at the upcoming Victorian yearling sales starting with Inglis Premier from March 4 – 7.

Footnote: The first yearling by Warhorse offered at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Tasmania on Thursday sold for $45,000. The colt from Petite Oiseau was offered by N Barker Thoroughbreds and bought by John Blacker.
