Back to Back Wins for The Three Hundred

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 23

Promising I Am Invincible gelding The Three Hundred broke the ice with a maiden win at Rosehill three weeks ago and made it back to back metro wins when scoring again at Warwick Farm on Wednesday beating Hellbent gelding Komodo Dragon to make it a quinella for Yarraman Park graduates.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, The Three Hundred was considered good enough to contest a couple of stakes  races last autumn as a juvenile and since being gelded has turned a corner in his current preparation.

Ridden on the pace by Tim Clark, The Three Hundred gave a good kick after turning for home and was too strong at the finish winning the 1400m Benchmark 68 event over 1400m by a length over the favourite Komodo Dragon.

“He’s racing full of confidence now and we saw that in his work between runs and physically he’s in great shape so it was going to take a really nice horse to beat him today,” said Adrian Bott.

“He’s always shown good ability, we’ve just had to be patient, so I think we can aim up to stakes level at some point and there might be a nice opportunity late in the carnival.”

A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yarraman Park for Trilogy Racing Pty Ltd/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing, The Three Hundred carries the Trilogy Racing colours and has now won two of eight starts earning nearly $130,000.

The Three Hundred was a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yarraman Park.

Bred by Allam Racing, who retain a share in his ownership, The Three Hundred is the second winner from stakes-winning Smart Missile mare Sassy ‘n’ Smart, a half-sister to Group III winner Mallory from a top class European female family.

Sassy ‘n’ Smart has a yearling filly by Extreme Choice and was covered last spring by Home Affairs and produced a colt on October 13.
