Storm Boy Given Coolmore Everest Slot

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 14

It’s been an intense 48 hours for Team Coolmore with two outstanding colts in the running to take their slot for this year’s $20million Everest and the decision has been announced this afternoon that Storm Boy will get the nod ahead of Switzerland.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will now field two runners in the race with Golden Slipper winning filly Lady of Camelot to take her place along side the colt.

"The weather forecast is looking more favourable, the track should be good for Saturday and that will suit Storm Boy,'' Adrian Bott told Racenet.

"Pretty much as soon as the Golden Rose was run (Storm Boy ran fourth to Broadsiding), Tom Magnier flagged the idea of going to The Everest.

"So, we have trained Storm Boy for the race. He has had a nice freshen up, the three weeks between runs has been ideal for him, it's worked out really well.''

While The Everest will be decided this Saturday, the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes looms next month as another target race for these high class colts.
