Randwick jockeys’ review for Saturday August 5

Breednet - Monday August 7

Corey Brown took out the feature Group II Missile Stakes although Jason Collet claimed the riding honours picking up a late double at Randwick on Saturday.

Once again, Racenet was on hand to get the feedback from every rider after every race.

This is what the jockeys thought of their rides during the day.

SHOGUN SUN

Christian Reith

He was impressive actually, he surprised me. He was a bit gawky getting through that gap. It just took a bit to get him through there but I really like the way he put his foot down once he got through. He hasn’t let them down and if he keeps going forward it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in the Golden Rose.

2nd

ADDICTIVE NATURE

Tim Clark

He ran well up in grade. It might not have been ideal leading into a bit of a breeze down the side.

3rd

SOLAR PATCH

Jason Collett

Stuck on in the finish just didn’t know how to go bang off a speed like that.

4th

WILD HEART

Tommy Berry

He might be coming to the end of his prep. I thought he was entitled to finish off a bit better than he did. He’s been up quite a while for a young horse and I think he’ll be better next preparation.

5th

BRAVE SONG

Kerrin McEvoy

I think the ground was against him and he might go for a spell now.

6th

THE MIGHTY FED

Joshua Parr

Nice first-up effort. Just as I went to let him down he started to tire. Will improve.

WAHNG WAH

Rachel King (a1.5)

It helped stepping up in trip and the small field helped with her racing pattern but she was really strong to the line.

2nd

MISS DUBOIS (NZ)

Glyn Schofield

Good effort. Settled midfield and quickened up into the run but couldn’t go with the winner.

3rd

DIAPASON (NZ)

Kerrin McEvoy

Good even run. Just lacked that turn of foot and stayed on which suggests she’ll enjoy a little bit further.

4th

SHANAKEE (NZ)

Tim Clark

Ran honest. Lacking a killer punch.

5th

LONG TIME AGO

Joshua Parr

Lacks a turn of foot.

6th

LA CHICA BELLA

Corey Brown

I reckon she’s after a well earned break. She still stuck on well and I don’t think it was the 1800m, she just needs a break.

7th

LANI GIRL

Jay Ford

Travelled well but found nothing.

8th

LABDIEN

He was always going to ping out like that. It was good the leader rolled along at a good tempo and I was able to relax. I was pretty confident. He worked really well Tuesday morning so it was hard not to be confident.

2nd

IMPERATOR AUGUSTUS

Joshua Parr

Really good run but just found one better on the day.

3rd

FRANCESCO

Tommy Berry

He was on one rein in the second half of the straight. If he goes straight he probably challenges the winner but the pace was against us today.

4th

MURAQABA

Michael Murphy (a3)

It was nice run. We had intentions of going forward but ended up going back. He settled well at the back and ran home well.

CARE TO THINK

Tye Angland

He was really good. He is a difficult horse though, he want to over-race, he wanted to hang in and hang out. He did a lot wrong but hopefully he might be towards the end of his prep and can improve when he comes back.

2nd

MAKFI LASS

Rachel King (a1.5)

It was a big run but it was not ideal being drawn inside on her.

3rd

PUZZLING WONDER

Blaike McDougall (a3)

Coming into the straight I thought, how far is this going to win by? But he just knocked up that last furlong.

4th

MAYBE EVEN YOU

Josh Adams

She ran well. The track probably played against her but she sprinted well and I think she would have sprinted even better on top of the ground.

5th

MAGIC ARLI

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Travelled up well just didn’t really get through the going. Still made some steady ground to the line and tried hard.

6th

1000m really suited her today and I had a soft run. I had here ready to fire at the 300m once we got a bit of room and that’s all she needed really. She’s got an explosive turn of speed and we made use of that.
