A quality packed catalogue for the NZB Ready to Run Sale was released earlier this week and in the lead up to the sale we’ll go looking each week for some horses of interest that jump out on pedigree for various reasons.

Arkansaw Kid didn’t quite win at Moonee Valley last Saturday in the Listed MVRC Chautauqua Stakes , but the four year-old son of Harry Angel (IRE) has come back in great form as a gelding this spring winning his previous start in stakes company, while another newly gelded son of Harry Angel in Tom Kitten is early favourite for the Group I ATC Epsom Handicap.

Also set to fly the Harry Angel flag this spring is another exciting three year-old colt in Angel Capital, who kicked off his spring with a win in the Listed MRC McKenzie Stakes last Saturday.

A champion sprinter that is back at Darley Australia this season at an increased fee, Harry Angel has three entries for this year’s Ready to Run and they include Lot 372, a colt from Florabella that is a full brother to Arkansaw Kid and will be offered by Ohukia Lodge.

Florabella has been a great producer leaving five winners from six to race and Arkansaw Kid has won over $1.1million in prizemoney.

Also by Harry Angel are two more colts from young well credentialled mares.

Lot 306 – colt from Cambric offered by Kilgravin Lodge.

First foal of a half-sister to Group III placed Orhanza from the family of Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Long John.

Lot 379 – colt from Forever Calm offered by BMD Bloodstock.

First foal of a half-sister to stakes-winner Special Missile from imported stakes-winner Quiet Meadow (USA).

The 2024 edition of the Ready to Run Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 20 & 21 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 21 & 22 October.
