Second Season Shake Up Looms - Who Are You Tipping?

At the end of last season there were a lot of people looking to hail the first crop sires as a vintage bunch led by Too Darn Hot (GB), who broke all records for his efforts to be champion by earnings and winners for 2023/2024 with the result that he and most of his peers were given a fee increase and a month into a new season the state of play looks like this.

Zousain and Tassort have taken an early lead and both have sired stakes-winners already this season and those fillies Ameena and Drifting will face off in the Group II ATC Darley Furious Stakes on Saturday, which also features Group I winning Tassort filly Manaal and Too Darn Lizzie will fly the flag for Too Darn Hot.

Down south at Moonee Valley and Royal Meeting (IRE) and Pierata have the chance to make a big splash with their star runners Hayasugi and Coleman engaged to run in the $750,000 Group I MVRC Moir Stakes, while taking on their own age are the fillies Silmarillion (Too Darn Hot) and Immortal Star (I Am Immortal) in the Listed MVRC Atlantic Jewel Stakes.

Pierata has a potential knock out horse in the Listed MVRC McKenzie Stakes in Kiwi raider Red Sea, while Amelia’s Jewel’s half-brother Bosustow could surprise for Blue Point (IRE).

What will the table look like come Sunday morning?
