Lonhro Fans Looking for Value?

For fans of legendary racehorse and champion sire Lonhro there are few opportunities to access his bloodline if you have a mare and want to breed to race in Victoria, but Larneuk Stud can put you on the path to the winner’s circle.

At the end of last season, the Australian third crop sire table by winners looked like this and while Hunter Valley heavyweights Hellbent and Russian Revolution had a margin on their peers, Lonhro’s dual Group I winning son Impending made his presence felt to finish fourth with 69 winners of $4.8million in prizemoney.

Among his winners was last month's Australian stakes-winner Cool Memory, plus five more stakes-placed horses, while in New Zealand his quality filly Impendabelle won the Group II Soliloquy Stakes and was also second in the Group I New Zealand Thousand Guineas to Molly Bloom, a new addition to the Chris Waller stable.

Since the start of this year, Impending has produced a steady stream of Melbourne metro winners and they include: Unlimited Magic, Heart of Glass, Albanian I Am, Scorch and the Godolphin homebred mare Kin, who has won over $415,000 in prizemoney.

A Godolphin blueblood being by Lonhro from Group I winning Encosta de Lago mare Mnemosyne, Impending is also a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group I MRC Blue Diamond winner Lyre, so on the score of pedigree you get a lot of back for buck with his new service fee since moving to Larneuk Stud set at $6,600.

It’s a female family Godolphin continue to cultivate with current stars including the lightly raced I Am Invincible stakes-winner Commemorative, who trialled impressively earlier this week and the four year-old looks primed for her best campaign yet.

Completely free of Danehill blood, Impending makes plenty of appeal as an outcross sire with 58 of his 89 career winners produced by mares carrying Danehill blood and he has produced winners from mares by all the leading Danehill line broodmare sires such as Fastnet Rock, Exceed and Excel, Commands, Flying Spur, Choisir and Snitzel.

Easy to mate and a proven commodity, Impending gives all breeders the opportunity to produce a blue blood winner of their own.
