Sad Passing of Exosphere

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 14

Brilliant winner of the Group I ATC Golden Rose in 2015, statuesque Lonhro stallion Exosphere has passed away at Oaklands Stud in Queensland due to complications arising from colic surgery.

Vale, Exosphere - be sadly missed at Oaklands Stud.

Exosphere started his stud career at Darley in NSW, but in recent years has been based in Queensland and Neville Stewart and his team at Oaklands are mourning the loss of the likable 12 year-old stallion, whose impressive physique and character made him unforgettable.

“Exosphere had colic surgery late yesterday, but he was in a lot of pain after the surgery and the decision was made to let the big boy go to God,” said Neville Stewart.

“We are all devastated at Oaklands as he was the best behaved boy any stud could ask for. He had a big personality and was always happy. We all loved him and he will be forever missed.”

Exosphere sired the winners of over $17.2million in prizemoney with 10 stakes-winners headed by Group II winners Thermosphere, Skybird and Easter and his Australian stakes-winners last season included Phearson, Spacewalk and Austmarr.

Exosphere covered 58 mares last spring.
