New President for TBV

Media Release - Monday August 12

Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Murray as the new President of the organisation, following the successful tenure of James O'Brien, who has stepped down after 16 years of dedicated service to TBV and the Victorian breeding industry.

Peter Murray

With decades of involvement in both racing and breeding sectors, Murray brings a wealth of experience to the role. His knowledge for the thoroughbred industry, combined with extensive business acumen and industry connections, position him well to lead TBV into the future.

"I'm honoured to take on the role of President and to continue the incredible work done by James O'Brien," said Murray. "Victoria is a world-class breeding destination, and I look forward to working closely with our members and industry participants. Our focus will remain on promoting the Victorian breeding industry, supporting breeders, and collaborating with the stakeholders."

James O'Brien, who has served as President with distinction, will continue to be a valuable member of the TBV community. Under his leadership, the Victorian breeding industry saw significant growth in international investment and racetrack success. TBV also expanded the Victorian Owner and Breeder Incentive Scheme (VOBIS), which has become a cornerstone of the Victorian breeding industry, increasing returns to owners, breeders and participants.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time with TBV in the presidential capacity and in developing the association’s relationship with key industry stakeholders. I look forward to continuing my service to the Victorian breeding industry as a member of the TBV committee. Peter Murray is an exceptional choice to lead TBV into the future," O'Brien said. "His experience and vision will undoubtedly strengthen the Victorian breeding industry."

TBV extends our deepest gratitude to James O'Brien for his exceptional leadership and significant contributions over the past 16 years. O'Brien's tenure as President has left an indelible mark on TBV.

As Peter Murray takes the helm, TBV remains committed to supporting and promoting the Victorian breeding industry, ensuring it continues to thrive and grow.
