Two on the Bounce for Spirit Of Boom's Moulin Miss

Mark Smith - Saturday August 3

Moulin Miss ran into a smart one in Arabian Summer when well fancied on debut in the Aquis Gold Pearl in January, but it has been plain sailing in two starts since.

After concluding her 2-year season with a dominant win over 800m at Ipswich on July 11, the daughter of Spirit Of Boom made a winning 3-year-old bow in Saturday’s Country Music Raceday On Sale Now Hcp (1100m) at Doomben.

Ridden by Angela Jones for Tony Gollan, Moulin Miss tracked the leader She’s Ours to the turn. Eased out to find clear air she quickly collared the daughter of Merchant Navy to win by one and a half lengths with the Yes Yes Yes colt Climatic back in third.

“She has always shown something,” stable representative Craig Cavanagh said.

“At her first start at the Gold Coast, she was on a really hard track. It was a good run, and she got into a fair bit of trouble the other day over a half-mile at Ipswich. She picked herself up and won impressively.

“I’ll give Ange and eleven out of ten for the ride. It was a nice little 3-year-old race, so it was good to see her win.”

Moulin Miss a $170,000 Inglis Premier yearling

Moulin Miss was a $170,000 buy for Gollan Racing Stables / John Foote Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Eureka Stud draft at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

She is the second foal and first runner for the talented Written Tycoon mare Je Suis Tycoon, a 3-time winning sister to the Group III Gold Coast Guineas and Listed Gosford Guineas winner Hightail, who finished third in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic and Magic Millions 3yo Guineas.

Out of a half-sister to Listed winner and Group 1 TJ Smith Classic runner-up Ringa Ringa Rosie from the family of La Caissiere, Dashing Eagle, Osborne Bulls, Zapateo, and Viridine, Je Suis Tycoon has a yearling colt by Admire Mars (JPN), which was a $140,000 purchase for Ontrack Thoroughbreds from the Eureka Stud draft at the 2024 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

A $37,500 Inglis Digital purchase by David Parker in 2018 when in training, Je Suis Tycoon has a weanling brother to Moulin Miss and was covered by Spirit Of Boom last spring.

The Eureka Stud stallion made the top ten list for individual winners last season with 134, seven of which were stakes-winners.
