Two on the Bounce for Blue Point Filly Photograph

Mark Smith - Wednesday July 24

Godolphin's 2-year-old filly Photograph continued the late-season blitz for Blue Point (IRE) with a dominant win in the Sportsbet Fast Form Hcp (1300m) at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday.

Blake Shinn had the James Cummings-trained filly bowling along in fifth in the seven-runner contest as the heavily backed favourite Jazzclub led after a smart start.

When eased out on straightening, Photograph showed an impressive turn of foot to gather in the leaders. At the 200m, it was a matter of how far. She put three and a quarter lengths over her stablemate Diamond Firetail (Epaulette), with Jazzclub (Ardrossan) a length and a quarter back in third.

Photograph headed south after breaking her maiden at start three over 1200m on a heavy track at Scone.

The daughter of Blue Point (IRE) finished a close-up fourth at her first start at Canterbury before finishing fourth in a highly rated 2-year-old handicap over 1300m at Newcastle won by Last Command (Tassort) from Just Party (Justify), with stablemate and rising star Broadsiding (Too Darn Hot) back in third.

lf-sister to Listed Denise's Joy Stakes winner Commemorative (I Am Invincible), Photograph is the third winner from four to race for the winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Memorial, who placed in the Group II ATC Silver Shadow Stakes and Listed Lonhro Plate.

"She arrived down here a few days ago and settled in well. She is not the biggest, but she has an engine, and it was good to see her dominate in that style," assistant trainer  Nacim Dilmi said.

"She's half the size of Commemorative but is straightforward to deal with.

"She was our first Blue Point winner, and her win at Scone was dominant.

"The way she won today, she will go further than 1300m, and she is heading in the right direction."

Photograph's dam Memorial is a half-sister to Group 1 BRC Stradbroke Hcp and Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup winner Impending (Lonhro), Group III winner Forget (Exceed and Excel), Listed winner Epidemic (Lonhro), and to the dam of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Lyre (Lonhro).

Memorial is a daughter of the MRC Thousand Guineas and STC Queen of the Turf Stakes winner Mnemosyne (Encosta de Lago).

Memorial has a yearling colt by Lonhro, which has been named Cenotaph. After missing in 2022, Memorial visited Brazen Beau last spring.

After a slow start, Blue Point (IRE) has hit his straps with eight winners and a Group 1 placegetter, Bosustow.

The son of Shamardal returns to Darley Stud, Victoria, this spring at a fee of $44,000.
