Juvenile Trial Watch - Rosehill

Breednet - Tuesday July 23

There were ten juvenile barrier trials at Rosehill on Tuesday morning and, while a number of established superstar older horses were in action earlier in the morning, the youngsters featured a number with the potential for spring prizes.

Zousain has the promising Chateau Miraval

There were three heats held over 1030m with the most impressive to the eye being the Annabel Neasham trained colt Innervisions (I Am Invincible).

It was actually the slower of the three heats at that trip although the margin and manner of the performance made up for that, with a 4.9 length romp which could have been extended under James McDonald.

A $700,000 buy for Neasham, TFI Racing and Dermot Farrington from Kia Ora Stud at the Magic Millions, Innervisions is the third foal of Listed 2YO winner Modern Wonder, a sister to Champion 2YO Filly Away Game.

She’s had two starts to date and is obviously held in high regard having been sent to debut in the Listed Blue Diamond Prelude where she gained black type with her third before a 6th in the Blue Diamond Preview saw her spelled after.

Chateau Miraval is another that will have her eye on stakes victory this campaign after winning her first trial back for the spring preparation.

By first season sire Zousain, out of Sheila’s Star, she is a half-sister to G2 Furious Stakes winner North Star Lass and has shown a good dose of potential in three starts to date.

A $650,000 buy for Yulong, Gai Waterhouse and Kestrel Thoroughbreds from Rosemont Stud at Magic Millions, she won a strong midweek maiden on debut, beating subsequent dual stakes winner Growing Empire.

Two Golden Slipper lead ups followed with 4th in the G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes and 3rd in the G3 Magic Night Stakes before spelling.

The placegetters were also of interest with it being the best of four trials so far for the unraced All Eyes On Her (2f Zoustar x Sexy Eyes), a $1million dollar buy for Katsumi Yoshida from Milburn Creek at Inglis Easter and third placed Useapin (2f Yes Yes Yes x Pinova) again caught the eye with her third.

She was given two runs in her first campaign without firing, however her trials would suggest there’s more to offer.

Another from the Waterhouse/Bott team by a first season sire is Jupiter Hills.

By Exceedance out of Miss Gunpowder, she was the most expensive filly sold by her sire in 2023, making $380,000 at Inglis Easter to Waterhouse, Bott and Kestrel Thoroughbreds from Vinery Stud.

She looked to carry plenty of potential in two trials before debut when starting one of the favourites in the Inglis Nursery however was never a factor and put aside after.

This trial looked her best so far so nice progress has been made into this three-year-old season.

Other two-year-old winners were: Zeitung (Exceed And Excel), Shohisha (Supido), Saturday’s Girl (Zoustar), Davikar (Deep Field), Winchester (Deep Field), The Blade (Toronado) and Dyami (Rubick)
