Greg Polson - Saturday August 5

A confirmed form line and a proven form pattern provide the best investment opportunities at Kembla on Saturday.

The Gwenda Markwell-trained Addicted is chasing back to back win when the son of Northern Meteor lines up in the Grant Buckley CG&E Class 1 Handicap (1400m) after a maiden victory at Hawkesbury on July 16.

Addicted finished his race off strongly at Hawkesbury accounting for Our Barty and Damaging who franked the form by providing the Quinella in a Beaumont Newcastle maiden on July 27.

One of Addicted main rivals on Saturday is the Jason Attard-trained Seeking Affection who won his maiden on the same day Addicted but ran approximately eight-lengths slower when times are compared.

With a proven form line and an ideal barrier draw Addicted looks set to handle the step up in grade on Saturday.

The winning strike rate of the Ron Quinton-trained Happy Partner on a face value is a question mark as the now seven-year-old chases his third career win from 21-starts in the Mitchell Bell Benchmark 59 Handicap (2000m) but punters should have a closer look at his third-up form

Both career wins for Happy Partner have come third-up in a preparation winning a Goulburn maiden in June 2014 and a Kembla class one over 2000m on in February 2015.

Happy Partner's remaining third-up run saw him finish just over a length from the winner at Canterbury over 1900m in December 2015 when there is a strong case to suggest the gelding should have won after failing to get clear running in the straight.

Happy Partner is ready to peak third-up once again on Saturday and as a bonus will have Mitchell Bell in the saddle who no doubt will be striving to win the race named in his honour.
