Sun Delivers for Supporters

Much missed Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring has several sons at stud and one of the quiet achievers is Glenthorne Park Stud’s Sebring Sun, whose 60% winner to runner strike rate has made him a great option for owner breeders chasing the dream on a budget.

A Listed winner that finished third in the Group I ATC Golden Rose, Sebring Sun has covered small books of mares since retiring to stud in 2018 and with his oldest progeny about to turn five his runners are now doing the talking for him.

His first three crops of racing age were all conceived at a fee of just $3,300 and so far 33 have made it to the races and 20 of them have won!

They include metro winners Acappella Sun and Acappella Moon, who have both finished fourth in stakes races as well as Tasmanian metro winner Miami Sun, plus slick juveniles Sunnycoast and Sammiballerina, who both won the $150,000 Capricornia Classic at Rockhampton.

The Matthew Dale trained Acappella Sun has won nearly $270,000 and looks well placed at Randwick on Saturday in a Benchmark 78 event for fillies and mares at her third run back from a spell.

Sebring Sun has had a flurry of winners and place-getters through June and into July and they include the Wayne Wilkes trained three year-old King Larry, who has had two starts for two wins at Taree and Tamworth.

Also making his owners super happy has been three year-old gelding Bringyaticket, who has been racing up a storm in the Townsville area with nine starts this season for six wins which have netted over $77,000 in prizemoney.

With burgeoning racetrack results and high fertility, Sebring Sun had a deserved fee increase last year to $6,600 and remains at that fee in 2024.
