Aussie Origins for New Godolphin Japanese G3 Winner

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 1

The mighty Godolphin racing and breeding operation spans the globe and a new three year-old stakes-winner for them in Japan on Sunday comes from a famous Australian female family that is still being well cultivated here for commercial success.

Bred and raced by Godolphin, three year-old Farrh colt Off Trail scored his first stakes win when taking out the Group III Fukushima Radio Nikkei Sho over 1800m and in doing so equalled a long standing course record.

Trail has had three wins and three placings from seven starts and is a three-quarter brother to Group III winner Rosa Imperial and stakes-winner Rosental, who are both by Farrh’s sire Pivotal from Rose Trail, an unraced Kingmambo daughter of Australian bred Group III winner Mannington, who is in turn a daughter of Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay.

Mannington started her stud career in Australia producing Group I VRC Derby winner Benicio and Group II winner Romneya before heading to the Northern Hemisphere for eight years returning to Australia in 2013 and producing another stakes-winner here in Roheryn before her passing in 2017.

Rose Trail has three imported daughters here in Australia so this offshoot of the Bint Marscay family is primed for an upswing.

Rosental (GB) (2012 Pivotal) – Her Dundeel yearling colt made $375,000 at Inglis Easter this year for Cressfield when bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock. She has a weanling filly by The Autumn Sun and is back in foal to him again.

Ribbons ‘n’ Roses (GB) (2014 Cape Cross) – Has a yearling filly by Bivouac and a weanling filly by Wild Ruler, but no foal this spring after missing to Wild Ruler last year.

Evening Bloom (GB) (2016 Admire Moon) – Has a weanling filly by The Autumn Sun and back in foal to him again.
