It’s been a while between drinks for talented Churchill (IRE) filly Cigar Flick, who overcame treacherous conditions at Rosehill on Saturday to return to winning form.
Carrying the famed Ingham cerise as does her close relation Fangirl, Cigar Flick rebounded from an unplaced run at Scone to power home through the driving rain to win by two and a half lengths for Sam Clipperton.
The meeting was abandoned after Cigar Flick's race with conditions untenable for racing.
Trained by Chris Waller, Cigar Flick has three wins from 14 starts with prizemoney topping $350,000.
A homebred for the Ingham family, Cigar Flick was foaled, raised and educated at Coolmore and is the first foal of Palmateer, a metro winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to $7.8million million earning triple Group I winner Fangirl from stakes-winner Little Surfer Girl.
Her third dam is triple Group I winner Special Harmony, who won the VRC Oaks, Thousand Guineas and Arrowfield Stud Stakes among her 10 wins, so Cigar Flick will be a valuable addition to the Ingham family’s broodmare band when she retires.
Palmateer had a filly Street Boss (USA) last spring and is now in foal to Justify (USA).
