Brazen Beau Filly Another Prophet Off the Mark

Mark Smith - Wednesday May 29

The blue-blooded 2-year-old Brazen Beau filly Another Prophet is off the mark at start two with a dominant performance in Wednesday’s Mac Waste Group Maiden Plate (1100m) at Sale.

Ridden by Michael Dee for Ciaron Maher, Another Prophet powered home to defeat the Nicconi debutant Regal Secret by one and three-quarter lengths, with the Exceedance first-starter Peace Baby a half-length back in third.

At her first start at Mornington on May 13, Another Prophet was out of play when she jumped in the air at the start and came from last to finish fifth.

“She got quite hot and worked up behind the gates,” Michael Dee said.

“She had to have a man on her tail in the barriers. She travelled strongly in the run and it was a great effort to finish off like she did after pulling in the first half.

“I strongly recommended that she get cover today, but it was far from smooth. There is more in store for her.”

Bred and part-owned by Bell River Thoroughbreds and Bob Hogno, Another Prophet carries the colours of her half-sisters, Group II MRC Rubiton Stakes winner Prophet’s Thumb and Group III Dark Jewel Classic winner More Prophet’s (Smart Missile).

Her dam Set To Skelter (Reset) is a sister to the Listed VRC Bagot Hcp winner Module.

James Bester Bloodstock shelled out $250,000 for a Bivouac filly out of Set To Skelter consigned by Bell River Thoroughbreds to the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Set To Skelter was covered by Harry Angel last spring.

Another Prophet is the seventh 2-year-old winner from 15 starters for Brazen Beau this season.

The Darley stallion stands for $33,000 in 2024.
