as a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when she broke her maiden last September, this
daughter of Fastnet Rock again showed promise of better to come when winning at
Sandown on Wednesday.
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum prepared by Mick Price,
promising filly Tagreeda was having her second run back from a spell and
powered clear to win over 1500 metres by a length and a half with Damien Oliver
in the saddle.
She started favourite and has now had four starts for two wins and two seconds.
"We
ended up having a nice enough run and she switched off well,” Oliver said. "She
got clear at the right time and she won well.
"She’s always shown a bit of promise and she’s putting it all together now.”
A half-sister to Group III placed High Spirit, Tagreeda is the third winner for
Azumi, an unraced sister to champion filly Alinghi and stakes-placed producers
Slice of Paradise (dam of Beneteau) and Perfect Persuasion.
A $1.4 million purchase from the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale,
Azumi has been a regular partner for Fastnet Rock and there is a two year-old
filly and yearling filly to follow Tagreeda by the Coolmore heavyweight.
Azumi had a change of pace last spring and was covered American Pharoah (USA).
