Campaigned exclusively in Group races since winning a maiden at Sandown on debut in February, Flyer scythed between runners to claim Saturday's Group III Sportsbet David Coles AM Stakes at Morphettville and credit Vinery Stud's first-season stallion Exceedance with his second stakes-winner.
Ridden by Craig Williams for Jason Warren, Flyer ran up to her strong finishing third in the Group III Breeders' Stakes to defeat the Alabama Express filly Kraravas by a long neck, with the Zousain filly The Dabble Effect a half-length back in third in a first-season sire trifecta.
Jason Warren said Flyer had coped well with a demanding preparation.
"We've put her to the sword this prep, and she's kept soldiering on. We put her in the deep end at her second start in the Blue Diamond," Warren said.
"We got over here to try and get some crucial black type for her being a filly, and she's shown up today and won a good little race.
"It wasn't exactly painless; being held up to the corner there, we patiently waited for a run. Tough effort late, she really surged to the horse that was well in front of her, outside her, and a tough effort to come back on the inside."
Craig Williams said he was confident in the run.
"I was happy in the run," he said. "Thanks to Jason and his team, the people looking after the horse while she's here.
"She has come on, as we can see today in her performance. Now she's a black-type winning filly, and it's great for Rosemont.
A homebred for Rosemont Stud, Flyer is a half-sister to the Group III SAJC Breeders' Stakes winner Treasurway (Starspangledbanner).
The daughter of Exceedance is the second foal of Miss Toorak Flyer (Toorak Toff), a talented mare for Jason Warren who won four and placed in six of her 14 starts.
Miss Toorak Flyer is out of an unraced half-sister to Secret Flyer, who earned Listed wins in the MRC Sir John Monash Stakes and VRC Kensington Stakes.
At the Magic Millions in January, Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott/Kestrel thoroughbreds went to $650,000 for the Rosemont Stud consigned three-quarter brother to Flyer, by Exceed And Excel.
After foaling a Shamus Award colt in August, Miss Toorak Flyer visited Starspangledbanner.
Flyer joins the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Dublin Down on the Exceedance honour roll and is the second first crop stallion to have two stakes-winner after Pierata.
The Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes winner stands for $33,000 at Vinery Stud in the forthcoming season.
