Fresh off a 37-week break, Godolphin’s 4-year-old Astern mare Parisal earned a third stakes success with a commanding performance in the $200,000 Listed Hawkesbury XXXX Gold Rush (1100m) at Hawkesbury on Saturday.
Given the run of the race behind the leader by Zac Lloyd, the James Cummings-trained mare angled between runners and, despite drifting out the final stage, defeated the Shalaa (IRE) mare Eagle Nest by a half-length with the winner’s stablemate Spacewalk (Exosphere) back in third.
Parisal was appearing for the first time since finishing sixth behind Lady Laguna in the Listed Nudgee Stakes at Doomben in December.
With wins in the Group III MVRC Typhoon Tracy Stakes and Group III ATC Toy Show Quality Handicap, Parisal advances her record to five wins and five seconds from 13 starts with earnings of $703,175.
Parisal won the Typhoon Tracy Stakes the day that her year younger half-brother Cylinder finished second in the Golden Slipper.
Due to stand his first season at Darley Stud, Cylinder (Exceed And Excel) retired with win in the Group 1VRC Newmarket Handicap, and Group II wins in the ATC Silver Slipper Stakes, ATC The Run to the Rose, ATC Todman Stakes, while banking $3.6 million.
Parisal and Cylinder are two of the first three foals for the Street Cry (IRE) mare Circular who won five and placed in eight of her 20 starts, highlighted by her victory in the Group III Matron Stakes at Flemington..
From the family of Lonhro, Circular has a yearling filly by Bivouac named Sphere and a weanling colt by Brazen Beau.
The daughter of Street Cry has a September 30 cover by Extreme Choice.
Aster will stand for $16,500 at Darley in the forthcoming season.
