Snack Bar Makes All at Caulfield

Mark Smith - Saturday May 4

With his top-class son Bustling an odds-on favourite in the WA Sires’ Produce Stakes, former Darley shuttler Frosted (USA) was off the mark early with the honest 2-year-old colt Snack Bar making all the running in the Sportsbet Photo Finish Refund Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield.

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse for James Cummings, Snack Bar defeated the favourite Signor Bill (Saxon Warrior) by a length with Bring Forth (Turn Me Loose) back in third.

A fast-finishing second behind Harpalee when on debut at Ballarat on March 11, Snack broke his maiden three weeks later on the same track. He prepped for Caulfield with a solid second to the promising Too Darn Hot (GB) colt Perspiration in the Mornington Sires.

A half-brother to the Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes winner Bistro (Street Boss), Snack Bar is the second winner from three to race for the talented Lonhro mare Estaminet.

The winner of six and placed in seven of her 21 starts, Estaminet is a daughter of the Listed SAJC Adelaide Guineas winner Estee (Redoute’s Choice), who was runner-up in the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks.

Estaminet has a 2-year-old Too Darn Hot (GB) filly named Caffettiera.

Not covered in 2022, Estaminet visited Blue Point (IRE) last spring.
