Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Friday May 3

As I Am Invincible rapidly closes in on Snitzel’s record seasonal earnings of $29,258,000 he is doing so despite what has been, to date, a relatively quiet season for his juveniles in Australia.

The Yarraman Park Stud champion finds himself in an unfamiliar 15th place but has some serious firepower ready to be unleashed before season end.

Chris Waller sends out the $550,000 colt Great White Shark and the $410,000 filly Canara in the opener at Hawkesbury on Saturday. At the same time, Peter and Paul Snowden target the Listed Ladbrokes Dalrello Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm with the Hollywood handsome Embassy.

Embassy failed by inches to get his career off to the best possible start when nosed out by Castanya in the Listed Lonhro Stakes at Randwick in February.

Two weeks later, the son of I Am Invincible was a soundly beaten fourth in the Group II Silver Slipper on by Straight Charge from Espionage and Ern’s Cube.

as been kept up to the mark with impressive barrier trial wins at Warwick Farm and Randwick.

Embassy was a $625,000 buy for China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy from the Yarraman Park Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bred by Gall Bloodstock, Embassy is the third foal of the talented Western Australian mare Dendee, whose nine wins and six places from 31 starts included a victory in the Listed WATC Sheila Gwynne Classic.

Consigned by Bell View Park Stud to the 2019 National Broodmare Sale with a positive test to Sebring, Dendee was hammered down to Gall Bloodstock for $200,000.

A daughter of Denman, Dendee is out of the unraced French Deputy mare Divine Deputy, a half-sister to Group 1 ATC Vinery Stud stakes winner Montoya's Secret (High Chaparral) and the Group II ARC City Of Auckland Cup winner Delago's Secret (Encosta de Lago).

Divine Deputy’s dam Divine Secret (Thunder Gulch) won at Moonee Valley and was third behind Kusi and Halibery in the Group 1 Blue Dimond Stakes. In a light career of six starts, all at two, Divine Secret placed in the Group III TBV Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.

Dendee has a yearling sister to Embassy. After foaling a Hellbent filly last spring, Denman's daughter revisited I Am Invincible.
