Rosemont Announce 2024 Fees and Doull to Join Roster

Media Release - Thursday May 2

Rosemont Stud are proud to present our stallion roster for the 2024 season.

The Rosemont Roster in 2024 is a select yet exciting collection of stallions each with their best years ahead of them.

Whilst the Australian racing industry is an evolving beast, it is undeniably the most exciting, vibrant equine industry in the world today with prizemoney & participation levels the envy of our global counterparts. We are however, in a challenging period particularly for those breeders in the middle market and we’re steadfast in our commitment to not just ‘saying it’ but offering genuine value-for-money.

Reflecting on this, Rosemont has elected to reduce fees on all our current stallions for 2024 despite some significant results both on the track and in the sales ring.

In 2024, we are excited to launch the stallion career of the brilliantly fast, magnificent looking son of Snitzel, DOULL.

Doull is new to Rosemont and stands at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.

A $1.2 Million Inglis Easter Yearling purchase, DOULL set the Flemington straight alight on debut as a 2yo recording a dominant victory in what was ranked by The Ratings’ Bureau’ Daniel O’Sullivan as the ‘best performance by a juvenile colt throughout the 21/22’ season’.

He returned in the 2023 spring and showcased his speed to win the 1000m Gr2 Caulfield Sprint producing the fastest last 600m ran at Caulfield amongst all sprint Group races in season 22/23’. He remains in work and is being aimed at a G1 QLD Winter campaign.

‘I can’t think of better type by Snitzel that I have seen. We’re in the business of producing quality young horses and I am confident when breeders have the opportunity to see Doull they’ll be as taken with him as we are’, said Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen.

‘Not only is Doull just the most beautiful animal physically, he matches this with Group One speed and the best attitude for a colt. He can carve out some astonishing sectionals when we let him rip’ added Trainer, Annabel Neasham.

From the 2yo stakes winning daughter of the influential Shamardal, Doull (pictured) is an A+ type, beautifully bred & arguably the best-looking son of 4x Champion sire SNITZEL to enter stud. He will stand at the introductory, value fee of $10,000+ GST (Payment On Live Foal).

SHAMUS AWARD’s rise as an elite sire of Group One Winners has been nothing short of phenomenal and the Cox Plate winning, champion son of Snitzel heads the roster at the excellent value of $35,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal)

In 2024, Shamus Award sired his SIXTH individual Group One winner when the filly QUINTESSA defeated the boys in the Group One Levin Classic over 1600m and highlighted yet again what a phenomenal source of Group One class Shamus Award can produce.

Not only has SHAMUS AWARD established himself as the dominant sire-son of champion sire SNITZEL, statistically he’s now amongst the best sires in Australia. In fact, his 6.5% SW/R’s ratio is superior to the likes of SO YOU THINK, DUNDEEL, TORONADO, MAURICE, STREET BOSS, WRITTEN TYCOON, BRAZEN BEAU etc.

With an average book of 170 mares over the last four seasons, Shamus Award is an outstanding option for breeders this year given his appealing fee & obvious upside.

The dynamic, EXTREME WARRIOR - the Highest Rated 3yo son of freakish young sire EXTREME CHOICE – stands his third season at $15,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal).

A precocious, multiple stakes performer as an early 2yo, It was however as a 3yo in a competitive Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield, that EXTREME WARRIOR emphatically laid claim to his Group One talent. A last 400m blitz which race-caller Matt Hill described as a ‘wow performance’…. ‘Extreme Warrior runs straight past Profiteer…this is going to be a demolition!’

With stylish, sharp, quality first crop foals on the ground, Extreme Warrior has had the support of some of Australia’s most successful breeders and this year presents a great opportunity to capitalise from this support.

Also standing for $15,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal) is the hugely popular & 2024 sales ring success, HANSEATIC.

His first crop yearlings in 2024 sold at the major sales for $375,000, $250,000, $220,000, $160,000, $150,000 etc. Buyers included Damon Gabbedy, Anthony & Sam Freedman, Lindsay Park, Peter Moody, Griffiths-DeKock etc.

A good looking entire from the immediate family of BLACK CAVIAR, Hanseatic was a scintillating 2yo and it was no surprise that at the conclusion of his first breeding season in 2021, he became the most patronized first season stallion in Victorian Breeding history by covering his 197th mare of the season.

Described by trainer Anthony Freedman as ‘dynamite…the best 2yo we have had since Alinghi’, Hanseatic has covered over 500 mares across his first three seasons which has him perfectly set up to make a fast & immediate impact at stud.

Given this quality and patronage, 2024 shapes as the ‘smart’ play to consider Hanseatic; the most likely of all stallions who retired in 21’ to jump the blocks early with his 2yo’s.
