Zousain racked up a seventh first crop winner at Ipswich on Wednesday although needed the help of the stewards as talented gelding Rhumb Line just missed at the post.
Third on debut back in December, the Mark Currie trained Rhumb Line was resuming from a spell in the 800m open juvenile and hit the line hard when failing by a whisker to catch smart filly Accelar. An immediate protest from beaten rider Angela Jone was quickly upheld giving Rhumb Line the win.
Not offered at auction, Rhumb Line is the third winner from three foals to race out of Satisfied, a winning Charge Forward mare that is closely related to dual Group I winner Response, the dam of Group I ATC Golden Slipper stakes winner Estijaab and Group III winner Remarque.
Rhumb Line is the seventh first crop winner for Zousain, whose progeny are headed by Group III winner Drifting and Group III placed Chateau Miraval.
Zousain has five quality weanlings from his third crop to be offered at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale next week.
