Wraps Coming Off High Priced Filly at Canterbury

Breednet - Wednesday May 1

The two-year-old race at Canterbury on Wednesday is full of interest with the wraps coming off last year’s highest priced filly, with the favourite also a high priced colt.

Clean Energy is the full sister to Champion 3YO filly and three-time Group One winner Sunlight, and also the stakes winning Sisstar.

Clean Energy sells at Magic Millions

She sold for $2.6million at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast sale to Yulong from the Widden Stud draft which at the time made her the equal highest priced yearling filly to sell at auction in Australia.

It’s a record which of course was eclipsed twice this year with the Pierro x Winx filly and the I Am Invincible x Booker filly, both at Inglis Easter.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Arian Bott, Clean Energy has been showing good talent at the trials, having been seen three times, and twice this current preparation for two wins.

She is currently the $4 second favourite behind the Chris Waller trained Private Life, a colt by Written Tycoon from Aliyana Tilde.

He was a $650,000 buy at Magic Millions Gold Coast for Tom Magnier from Arrowfield Stud and races for Coolmore and their partners.

He's only been seen once at the trials but was particularly impressive hitting the line powerfully to win a strong heat that included other promising youngsters Sovereign Hill and Braveheart.
