Racenet analysis for the 2017 Missile Stakes

Breednet - Friday August 4

The Racenet Speedmaps and Racenet form analysts have combined to give punters a leg-up in the Group II Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Racenet's Speedmaps spokesman Greg Polson said the race will be run at a fast tempo with a majority of on-pace runners engaged in the weight-for-age contest.

"It might not be a big field but there is plenty of speed engaged," Polson said.

"Jungle Edge and Memes love to lead but so does Tycoon Tara and even The Monstar prefers to take up the running but might not get the opportunity here.

"Le Romain and Invincible Gem are likely to settle further back than usual due to the expected pace up front whilst Boss Lane enjoys a trail just in behind them."

Corporate bookie Ladbrokes is offering $2.20 for the favourite Le Romain, $4.80 Tycoon Tara, $6.50 Jungle Edge whilst $9.50 is available for The Monstar and Invincible Gem. The other four runners are well into double-figures.

"The ratings have Le Romain as the horse to beat but the market has him priced accordingly," Racenet form analyst Cameron Happ said.

"The ratings also indicate it's a race of only four chances – Le Romain, Jungle Edge, Tycoon Tara and The Monstar.

"We have Jungle Edge as the best value in the race. Our ratings have him a clear second pick at $4.40 so the $6.50 is overs.

"If you use the Odds Boost at Ladbrokes you can lock in even a better price than that – so that's our suggested play."
