One to Watch – Ballarat

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 16

Champion trainer Chris Waller doesn’t send out a lot of three year olds making their debut on Victorian provincial tracks, but he let one go at Ballarat on Tuesday and the daughter of I Am Invincible looks as though there will be more wins in store.

Carrying the Yes Bloodstock colours of Brae Sokolski, Vanishing was a touch slow to begin for Jordan Childs, but let down with a big finish to win the 1100m maiden powering clear to win by nearly three lengths.

“She’s still learning her craft and even in her last jump out she was away a little bit slow and she was the same here today, but I didn’t panic and just rode her where she was nice and happy,” said Childs.

“Once I let her go she really extended to the line well and I think she is a nice horse heading forward and the more racing she does the better she is going to get.”

A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase for Yes Bloodstock Pty Ltd/Group One Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft, Vanishing had three unremarkable trials in Sydney last year and has taken time to mentally mature, but is clearly on the right track now.

She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Secret Trail, dam of this season’s stakes-placed 2YO Spywire, and is the sixth winner from seven to race from Trail of Secrets, a winning half-sister to Group I winning sprinter Gold Trail.

Bred by Yarraman Park, Vanishing is the final foal of Trail of Secrets, who died in 2022.
