Quickfire Million Dollar Double for Arrowfield

Mark Smith - Monday April 8

Arrowfield Stud had their first million-dollar lot of the sale with the Written Tycoon half-brother to Shoals and Groundswell and then struck again moments later with a Dundeel colt from the same family.

China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy, NSW combined to purchase the Written Tycoon colt from The Broken Shore for $1,350,000 (lot 346).

The Broken Shore is making her $1,900,000 purchase at the Telley Asset dispersal look a bargain.

Her three to go through the ring have sold for $2,300,000 (Groundswell), and last year Yu Long Investments /Anthony Freedman Racing/Julian Blaxland Bloodstock/ARJB Racing purchased a brother to the Written Tycoon colt for $950,000.

Shoals carried the colours of Jonathan Munz and her second foal, also by Written Tycoon, sold for $1,000,000 last year.

A metropolitan winning sister to Groundswell and a half to Shoals, the Fastnet Rock mare Tides is the dam of the Dundeel colt purchased by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock / Alpha Syndicate for $1,5000,000. (lot 349)

Only Dundeel’s $1,700,000 filly out of Street Cry's Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me has sold for more.
