$700,000 Colt Sets New Benchmark for Written By

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 7

Fresh from siring Straight Charge to win this year’s Group II ATC Silver Slipper, Widden Stud’s young sire Written By hit a home run at Inglis Easter on Sunday when his colt from Mandalong Snitjess sold for $700,000 to set a new benchmark in the sale ring for the sire son of Written Tycoon.

Consigned by Goodwood Farm, the colt was well inspected prior to sale but exceeded all expectation when secured by Aramco Racing Pty Ltd.

$700,000 Written By colt from Mandalong Snitjess

He is the first living foal of Mandalong Snitjess, an unraced half-sister by Snitzel to the dam of Group III winner Furnaces, stakes-winner Volcanic Rock and to the dam of stakes-winner Scorched Earth from the Pampas Fire branch of the great Summoned family that is noted for producing dual Group I winner Melito.

Goodwood Farm’s Kerry Tibbie purchased Mandalong Snitjess through an Inglis Digital Online Sale in 2021 for just $25,000 after the mare had a troubled start to her stud career and she then sent her to Written By with this powerhouse colt the result of the mating.

“We’ve had lots of inspections on all of our horses and he was a nice horse, a great horse,” said Kerry Tibbie told Jemma Cutting of Inglis.

“All the right people liked him, but wow! You don’t expect that!”

Mandalong Snitjess could have easily slid into obscurity if she had not been spotted by Kerry Tibbie on Inglis Digital, click to see her page.

Mandalong Snitjess has a colt to follow by Too Darn Hot (GB) and is now in foal to Anamoe.
