Bred To Swim - Breednet Wet Track Sire Stats

Joe Carbone - Thursday April 4

The Randwick ritual is back on song this weekend with a huge card of racing accompanied by drenching rains and world class athletes. Up to 150mm is predicted to wreak havoc on the east side suburb as the very best from across the country and beyond get ready to fight it out in some of the most prestigious races on our calendar.

With the added intrigue of a genuine bog track, here is a quick rundown on some equine athletes that may have been ducks in another life.

G1 Sires Produce

Traffic Warden(Street Boss) is the duck of the day. Storm Boy(Justify) should have no issue ploughing through the mud, Duvana(Dundeel) will appreciate.

G1 TJ Smith

Bella Nipotina(Pride Of Dubai),  I Wish I Win(Savabeel), Mazu(Maurice), Sunshine In Paris(Invader).

G1 Doncaster Mile

Kovalica(Ocean Park), Detonator Jack(Jackalberry), Militarize(Dundeel), Another Wil(Street Boss), Pericles(Street Boss), Celestial Legend(Dundeel) will all be singing in the rain, emergencies Nugget(Siyouni) & Hinged(Worthy Cause) will also relish the wet should they get the chance.

G1 ATC Derby

Zardozi(Kingman) & Riff Rocket(American Pharoah) look the obvious standouts. Glad You Think So(So You Think), Wymark(Savabeel) & Immediacy(Tarzino) should all appreciate the slog.

On the other end of the spectrum there is one fancied runner in particular that comes with a huge caveat when the ducks are quacking. I speak of champion mare Imperatriz(I Am Invincible) who although her record suggests she does get through it there is no doubt in my mind she is a different horse on top of the ground. With a strong field assembled for the TJ Smith and some notable mudlarks primed for action she would constitute a lay of the day.

Here’s to another exquisite expose’ of racing. Amongst all the gloom a day of delight awaits.

Breednet Wet Track sire stats are here for Randwick on Saturday with a statistical summary below:

Hellbent has a number of good prospects whose chances could well be enhanced with a wet track.
