Newhaven Park Blueblood Colt an Inglis Easter Rare Gem

Owned and run by the Kelly family at Boorowa in the south west of NSW, Newhaven Park has a long tradition of excellence at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and their draft of 10 this year features a Snitzel colt from one of the best fillies they have ever bred and raced.

A third generation homebred for Newhaven Park, Encosta de Lago filly English was retained to race and sent to the stables of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott where she quickly became a star winning the Group II ATC Reisling Stakes and finishing second in the Golden Slipper to be named Champion 2YO Filly.

She returned at three to win the Group I ATC All Aged Stakes (1400m) at WFA to be Champion 3YO Filly and later added another G1 to her CV winning the Doomben 10,000 retiring with six wins and over $3.4million in prizemoney.

Her first foal, a colt by I Am Invincible, sold for $1.55million to the bid of Kia Ora Stud / TFI / Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing at this sale last year and her second is an outstanding Snitzel colt that will be offered as Lot 9.

He is bred on the well proven Snitzel x Encosta de Lago nick that has produced three juvenile Group I winning colts – Sword of State, Invader and Summer Passage – with this colt ticking a lot of boxes to follow in their foosteps.

First foal of a placed sister to Champion 2YO Filly and Group I ATC Golden Slipper winner Estijaab and Group II winner Remarque wth grand-dam Response a dual Group I winning sprinter. Bred on successful Capitalist x Snitzel nick that as produced Group winners Marine One and Cannonball as well as SW Profiteer, while the Written Tycoon (sire of Capitalist) x Snitzel nick has produced this season’s top class juveniles Group I winner Velocious and Group II winner Captured by Love.

 

Lot 155 Colt Toronado x Miss Softhands, by Bel Esprit

Full brother to promising metro winning 3YO Sly Boots and is fourth foal of a metro winning half-sister to stakes-placed Kazio and to the dam of Group III winner Hellova Street and stakes-winner Street Savoire.

 

Lot 196 Colt Dundeel x Orchestral Lass, by Sepoy

By Dundeel, who has two Group I winning three year-old colts contesting the $4million Doncaster Mile on Saturday. Third foal of winning half-sister to Group II placed Red Fez and to the dam of Champion NZ 2YO Filly and Group I winner La Luna Rossa from the family of Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting to Win and Group II winning champion sire Deep Field. First foal of the dam Trezzamina (3f Written Tycoon) placed at Ballarat from two starts this year.

 

Lot 311 Filly Written Tycoon x Spanish Whisper, by Lope de Vega

Second foal of triple Group II winner Spanish Whisper, who was also Group I placed in NZ at two and comes from the family of European Horse of the Year Rock of Gibraltar (IRE). Her first foal Murmullo (2f Snitzel) trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, although yet to trial or race.

 

Lot 400 Filly So You Think x Zorro Rapido, by Foxwedge

Second foal of a winning sister to Group I winning sprinter Volpe Veloce, stakes-winner Raposa Rapida and half-sister to stakes-winner Delago Bolt. Grand-dam Bardego, winner of Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview. Bred on similar So You Think x Fastnet Rock( sire of Foxwedge) cross as Group I winning mare Palaisipan. First foal is Cash and Cards (2c Written Tycoon), bought by Yulong and shown ability at trials for Peter and Paul Snowden.
