Opening her account with a soft debut win on heavy ground at Geelong on Tuesday was the Anthony and Sam Freedman trained Hellbent filly Irrefutably, who has a full brother entered for the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.
She settled nicely in the run for Damian Lane and unleashed a big finish to surge home and win the 1140m maiden by more than a length over the Waterhouse Bott trained Zoustar filly Shivermepink.
“She was good today. She’s a filly that has taken really big steps this preparation and really improved into her trial and from that trial again into today,” said Damian Lane.
Irrefutably was a $130,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Yarraman Park for Dream Thoroughbreds / Bluegrass Bloodstock / Anthony Freedman Racing and is a sister to Group III placed Divine Glory.
She is the fifth winner from five foals to race out of Never Doubt Me, an 11 time metro winning Not a Single Doubt me mare from the family of Group III winner Kisses.
Hellbent is having a super season with 68 winners of over $7million including four stakes-winners Benedetta, Hell Hath No Fury, Fully Lit and his Group I winner Magic Time, who has accepted for the $3million Group I ATC TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on Saturday and has drawn gate one.
Adept on heavy ground, she will be unfazed if the anticipated rain arrives in Sydney before the weekend.
