Champion
sire Fastnet Rock has been in the news this week for producing million dollar
mares at the Tattersalls Breeding Stock Sale in the UK, but at Bendigo on
Wednesday we saw a taste of his new season Australian two year-olds with a
stylish debut win for High Ratio.
The Mick Price trained colt was second in a recent Cranbourne trial and obviously
took good benefit from that outing.
He jumped well for Michael Dee to sit outside the leader and powered to the
line to win the 1100 metre maiden by a length and a quarter with ears pricked.
"He did it easy and is a very nice horse," said Michael Dee.
"He'll go on with it for sure, he's got such a good temperament."
A $340,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Gilgai Farm draft,
High Ratio runs in the colours of the Frost family's Pendant Equine, who race
the colt in partnership with Aquis Farm.
Bred by Gilgai Farm, he is a three-quarter sister to stakes-placed Outlaw Kate
and is the first winner for stakes-winning Invincible Spirit (IRE) mare She's
Got Gears.
