Ashkannd Breaks Through for Litt

Media Release - Monday December 4
Young Warwick Farm-based trainer Richard Litt celebrated his good fortune when  gavelhouse graduate Ashkannd shone under lights at Canterbury on Friday night to notch up his first victory in his new colours.

Ashkannd - Bradley PhotographyHaving his fifth start under the ownership of Galletta Constructions Co Pty Ltd, the former Chris Waller-trained French galloper and gavelhouse.com graduate has now earned just shy of $28,000 since his purchase for $9,000 on 11 September with Litt thrilled with the result.

"I hadbeen looking for a stayer for a while as I've only been training since last December after taking over from my father and had a stable full of sprinters."

"I was keen to try my hand with a genuine stayer and when Ashkannd came up for sale I was delighted as I had seen him race and knew he was a bit of a handful but had ability and would possibly suit a smaller stable."

"Being from Chris Waller's stable was also a big plus, the welfare of the horse always comes first there so I knew it was a genuine sale and there would be no bad injuries or anything like that as if that was the case, he wouldn't have been for sale and would have been retired."

"I rang the Galletta family straight up and asked them to buy him for me because I knew they had a lot of faith in me and wanted to race a stayer and at the price we got him for, I was confident that even if he didn't win a race he would make his money back."

"It's taken us a while to work him out but he's going well and we are looking forward to his next few runs which could possibly be as early as Wednesday at Warwick Farm."

Ashkannd's win comes off the back of a three-win weekend for gavelhouse.com graduates in Australia last week with Chelsea Diamond (sold on account of John Sargent) almost returning her full purchase price in one start when winning at Casino over 1200m on Saturday.

Bought by trainer Ethan Ensby who bid to $5,500 for the daughter of Snippetson, she made up good ground in the straight with a smart sprint.

"We were really happy with our purchase of Chelsea Diamond off gavelhouse.com and she's likely to line up again on Friday at Murwillumbah," commented Ensby.

"Having been training of almost three years and with 15 in work now, it's a great way to be able to add to the team ."

In the same sale as Chelsea Diamond was Captain Cupboard who didn't manage to reach is $5,000 reserve however he too managed a win at Woolamai.

Meanwhile in the Northern Territory at Fannie Bay, Magnificent Galaxy. A son of Snitzel sold old on account of Sun Stud he has won over $37,000 in his four starts since his purchase for $10,250 on gavelhouse.com.

Purchased from founder Gary Moore as a classified site by New Zealand Bloodstock in 2015, gavelhouse.com was re-launched as an online auction site in April 2016 with horses since having sold for up to $211,000 online.

Bidding on the current gavelhouse.com Australia auction closes from7pm AEDT tonight (Monday 4 December) with representatives Shona Drechsler (shona@gavelhouse.com ) and Josh Murphy (josh@gavelhouse.com ) available to answer any questions in regards to using the site and bidding.
