SA Breeders Celebrate Awards Night

Dual Group One bridesmaid ANOTHER AWARD was named the Rathmore Bloodstock / PPI Funds Management South Australian Thoroughbred Breeders Horse of the year for 22-23.

Not to be denied in her very last outing, ANOTHER AWARD hit the finish line hard during another iconic phantom race call by the nights Master of Ceremonies and part owner Terry McAuliffe, to take out the top prize.

ANOTHER AWARD (Shamus Award/El Milagro) was bred by the Satchell Family proprietors of Willow Grove Stud. Willow Grove Stud also shared the leading SA Breeder of individual winner’s award with Toorak Park Breeding Trust managed by Harry Perks.

ANOTHER AWARD was purchased by Macdonald/Gluyas Racing for $150,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions sale, she amassed $619,475 in prizemoney on the track and was sold to Yulong Stud for 1.2 million last year.

Industry icon Peter Jones received the coveted MATRICE Award for his outstanding career within SA Racing and Breeding Industry.

Jones was Stallion Master and Supervisor of all horse education from the inception of the famed Lindsay Park Stud at Angaston SA and throughout the Studs halcyon days when leading sires Without Fear and Rory’s Jester ruled the national roost.

An exceptional horseman, Jones played an integral role in the 524 Group or Listed winners the Colin Hayes Lindsay Park produced over the years and published a book in 1984 titled “Educating Horses from Birth to Riding”.

Broodmare BAHAMAS (Teofilo/St Trinians) owned leading SA Thoroughbred Breeder David Peacock took out the Claude Haigh Memorial Broodmare of the year award.

BAHAMAS is the dam of Group 2 winner Berkeley Square (Territories) and dual Group 3 winner Senor Toba (Toronado)

AIR ASSAULT (Justify/Elegant Eagle) won best 2yo and VIDDORA (I Am Invincible/Snow Flight) bred by well-known retired Adelaide anaesthetist, Dr Terry Hodgson was recognised by her racetrack achievements entering the Millionaires Club.
