Field Out for $1million Winterbottom Stakes

A field of 13 sprinters will compete at weight-for-age in Saturday's Group I Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.

Santa Ana Lane - Grant CourtneyPerth's biggest sprint features three interstate raiders with Anthony Freedman sending Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Santa Ana Lane (Lope de Vega (Fr) west, the Lindsay Park stable will run progressive Star Witness mare Fuhryk and Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell will run Group I placed I Am Invincible mare Viddora in the $1m sprint.

Local sprinter Rock Magic is the highest-rated Winterbottom Stakes runner on 108, two points ahead of Santa Ana Lane while Viddora is the only other runner rated over 100 and has been second, second and fourth at her past three runs in Group I company.

Champion WA jockey William Pike will ride Nicconi gelding State Solicitor, the winner of four of his last five starts, for prominent owners Bob and Sandra Peters .

The Winterbottom Stakes 2017 barrier draw will be conducted on Tuesday evening (eastern time).
