First Stakes Win for Daughter of Thorn Park

Mark Smith - Saturday November 25

Local hero Willie Pike and trainer Adam Durrant made it two stakes winners in the space of 35 minutes when Celebrity Dream stormed home to win Saturday's Crown Perth-Jungle Classic (1200m) at Ascot.

In a performance eerily similar to that of Zuccheros in the previous race, Celebrity Dream came from well back in the field to defeat Volkoff (Time Thief) by one and a half lengths with Top Of The Class (Star Witness) one and a quarter lengths back in third.

Carrying the silks of Bob and Sandra Peters, the 5yo daughter of Thorn Park earned her first stakes win advancing her record to 6 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 13 starts with earnings of $240,750.

"I've always had a lot of time for her. When she first went to Adam he didn't think much of her," Bob Peters said.

"I said to him don't worry, this one has some ability and today she proved that."

Peters said Celebrity Dream would contest the mares series.

, Celebrity Dream was a $260,000 purchase by John Chalmers Bloodstock from the Haunui farm draft at the 2014 NZB 2014 Premier Yearling Sale.

She is a half-sister to Group II MRC Autumn Classic and Group III BRC Grand Prix Stakes winner and Group 1 Queensland Derby third Villanova and Group II Waikato RC Sir Tristram Fillies Classic winner Vavasour (Redoute's Choice).

She is out of the Group III winning Red Ransom mare Valpolicella who has a 2yo colt by Iffraaj (GB) and a yearling colt by Savabeel. She was covered by Savabeel again last season.

Celebrity Dream becomes the 28th stakes winner for Thorn Park (Spinning World) who died in December 2012.
