hero Street Sense, Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and Blue Diamond victor Pride
Of Dubai.Already passing on his superior genes to another generation, Street Cry is proving his worth as a sire of sires with his sons Per Incanto, Shocking, Street Boss and Street Sense siring stakes winners in the southern hemisphere.
Boasting astounding progeny earnings in excess of $154 million and an impressive stakes winner to runner ratio of 8%, Street Cry can get runners over a variety of distances from sprinting to Classic and beyond; his most recent Australian stakes performer being the Gr.3 Bendigo Cup (2400m) winner Qewy.
Not only is Wolf Cry's sire line excelling at the highest level, so is his family with his close relation Villermont recording a big victory in last weekend's Gr.2 Sandown Guineas - storming home from the rear.
Having just his fourth start, the valuable Aaron Purcell trained colt is rising rapidly through the grades and has Group One autumn targets; the Australian Guineas and the Rosehill Guineas.
"We deliberately planned to give him a light spring," Purcell said, noting that the son of All Too Hard will be all the stronger next time in. "He has taken a while to grow into himself and is probably still a preparation away."
"He is a very well bred horse who works like a machine," he added whilst jockey Luke Nolen declared the three-year-old to be "all class."
Like Wolf Cry, Villermont is a descendant of the influential matriarch Eau
d'Etoile who was part of the great Sir Tristram's historic New Zealand Oaks
trifecta. The Group Three winner produced eight named foals, seven of whom raced - all being winners including the dual Group One winning, twice W.S Cox Plate runner-up Filante, the Golden Slipper heroine Bint Marscay, the Australian Guineas winner Kenny's Best Pal and the Listed winner Eau D'Scay.
Villermont is a son of Group One Coolmore Classic winner Bollinger, daughter of Bint Marscay (who, at 27 is enjoying a happy retirement at Kentucky's Old Friends) who also produced the Group Three winners Sheraton and Mannington (dam of the VRC Derby winner Benicio).
Eau d'Etoile's stakes placed daughter Temple Fire by the great speed influence Bletchingly produced the Group One winning sprinter Stella Cadente - in turn dam of speedy juvenile stakes winner Brilliant Bisc.
Meanwhile both of Stella Cadente's stakes placed daughters Moonfish and Starfish have produced stakes performers; the former the Hong Kong Group Three winner Dashing Fellow and the dual Listed winner Aeronautical - and the latter Wolf Cry.
