Winning Debut Hellbent Colt – Inglis Millennium Next – Half-Brother Inglis Classic

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 20

The open juvenile event at Rosehill on Saturday featured a big competitive field with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable producing yet another talented two year-old with Hellbent colt Fully Lit leading all the way for a dominant debut victory to the great delight of his huge team of Red Fox Racing owners.

Filly Lit had shown nice ability finishing second in two trials last month and found this 1100m assignment just to his liking. Ridden by Reagan Bayliss, he worked forward to lead and showed a good change of gear over the final furlong to open up and win by three lengths.

“He’s a lovely horse and very precocious,” said Regan Bayliss.

“He handled himself so well and the further he went the stronger he was.”

A $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Red Fox Racing from the Glenlogan Park draft, Fully Lit is a half-brother to last season’s speedy juvenile The Novelist, who is also trained by Gai and Adrian and won the Group III BRC BJ Mclachlan Stakes last year before going amiss prior to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

“He’s looked very sharp and was nice and forward for today,” said Adrian Bott.

“He’s shown plenty of potential so it’s good to see that level of ability stack up on race day. He’s a nice type that will keep improving and being an Inglis sold horse we’ll look towards the Inglis Millennium with him.”

Fully Lit was a modest $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Bred and sold by Glenlogan Park, Fully Lit is the second foal and second winner from metro winning Snitzel mare Sunlit, a half-sister to Group II winner Vo Heart from the family of dual Group I winner Magical Miss.

Glenlogan Park will offer the yearling filly by North Pacific from Sunlit at Inglis Classic as Lot 750 and the mare is now in foal to Zoustar after missing to Spirit of Boom.

Fully Lit looks a bright prospect for Yarraman Park’s Hellbent, who is currently the leading third season sire by earnings with 53 winners of over $4.2million in prizemoney and he has five entries for Karaka Book 1 and 15 for Inglis Classic.
