Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Five heats for two year-old this morning with spring stakes-winner and Inglis Millennium contender Odinson stretching his legs to win a heat, while other winners included youngsters by first season sires Zousain and Microphone, plus a couple of colts for the Newgate and China Horse Club partners.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Night of Thunder colt Odinson won the Restricted Listed Inglis Nursery in early December at his second start and looed in good order here cruising up on the inside to win over Excelindeed, who was having his second trail following a win first time out and turned in a good effort again.

 

 

Producing a typical Waterhouse Bott trial performance was Zousain filly Chateau Miraval, who jumped fast and led all the way to win her heat by two and a half lengths held together.

 

 

$650,000 Magic Millions purchase, Chateau Miraval is the highest priced yearling by Zousain.

 

A $650,000 Magic Millions purchase from Rosemont Stud for Yu Long Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds, Chateau Miraval has the distinction of being the highest priced yearling from the first crop of Zousain and is a three-quarter sister to Group II winner North Star Lass, who was also trained by Waterhouse and Bott.

 

Godolphin homebred Microphone filly And Found won her heat by three-quarters of a length her best effort in three trials so far and is a half-sister to three winners from Group III winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Abduction, a half-sister to Group III winner Retrieve and stakes-winner Reparations.

 

 

Newgate / China Horse Club colts quinella in this heat with the Peter and Paul Snowden trained I Am Invincible colt Embassy edging clear for the win over Vassos at his second trial and first this prep.

Newgate/ China Horse Club again in this heat with the Waterhouse Bott trained Russian Revolution colt Russian Roulette, who has had two trials this month for two wins.

 

Russian Roulette was a $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from The Chase.

A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from The Chase, Russian Roulette has a bit of depth in his female pedigree being from unraced Dubawi mare Bethsaida (IRE), a three-quarter sister to Group winning miler Discovery Island  and half-sister to stakes-winners Dunelight and Sperry.

The Chase will offer his half-sister by Justify (USA) at Inglis Classic as Lot 117 and being one of only four fillies by the Triple Crown winner in that sale, she will be a must inspect.
