Yulong Purchase $760,000 Zoustar Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 10

Yulong have been active at Magic Millions purchasing as Highway Farm and secured a cracking Zoustar colt from Widden Stud on Wednesday for $760,000.

Bred by Widden, the colt is the first foal of stakes-winning Sebring mare The Actuary and is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group I ATC Flight Stakes winner Zougotcha and stakes-winner Persuader, who are both by Zoustar.

The extended family features Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily, who was sired by Widden’s former much loved stalwart sire Stratum.

Commenting for Yulong, Vin Cox was well pleased to be buying from Widden, who have had such a good association with the colt’s family.

“They know what they look like and they know how to breed one,” said Vin Cox.

“He’s (by) one of the top stallions in the country out of a good stakes-winning mare, so here’s hoping we can knock him into shape.

“Running families, they tend to repeat themselves a bit, so it will be very nice if we ended up with a Golden Slipper winner but there’s a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then.”

The Actuary is not surprisingly married to Zoustar and has a filly to follow and is back in foal to him again.
