Hot Lots Day 1 Magic Millions 2024

Gird the loins for the first of a monumental 1468 yearlings to go through the ring over seven days at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast. beginning at 11 am on Tuesday.

There are 1020 lots catalogued for Book 1, which runs through to Saturday, compared to the 979 twelve months ago.

Let’s look at a selection of the yearlings on the ground generating interest from prospective buyers, along with some personal favourites.

Lot 16 B F I Am Invincible x Outback Barbie by Spirit Of Boom -  Consignor: Yarraman Park Stud.

First foal of multiple stakes-winner of over $1.5 million and was runner-to Sunlight in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.

Pedigree received a big update when Outback Barbie’s sister, Barbie’s Sister, won the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes, a race won by Outback Barbie at her second start.  

Lot 19 B C I Am Invincible x Palace Talk by Street Cry - Consignor: Yarraman Park Stud.

Not much guess work needed here as this colt is a brother to Gr II MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes winner Shuffle Dancer and multiple Group III-placed Forbidden City, and a half-brother to the multiple Gr II-placed Never Talk (No Nay Never).

Lot 28 Br F Wootton Bassett (GB) x Patsy Boyne (IRE) by Galileo - Consignor: Bhima Thoroughbreds

From the first Southern Hemisphere crop of leading sire and sire of sires Wootton Bassett (GB), this filly is a half-sister to French Gr III winner Naranco (Kingman).

Dam is a three-quarter sister to the great High Chaparral (IRE) and her I Am Invincible filly made $650,000 here last year and is in training with Sara Ryan.

Lot 33 Br F Pierro x Pelican by Fastnet Rock - Consignor: Coolmore Stud

Half-brother to the Magic Millions 2yo Classic favourite Storm Boy (Justify), unbeaten in two starts including a two-and-a-half length romp in the Gr III B.J. McLachlan Stakes and purchased here last year for $460,000.

Dam is a metro-winning daughter of the New Zealand Horse of The Year, 7-time Group 1 winner Seachange.

Lot 47 Ch F Written Tycoon x Piping Hot by More Than Ready - Consignor: Milburn Creek

Sister to the Gr 1 VRC Lightning Stakes and Gr 1 MVRC AJ Moir Stakes winner Coolangatta, heroine of the 2022 Magic Millions Classic.

The flying daughter of Written Tycoon visited Justify (USA) in September at her first season at stud.

Dam is a half-sister to Gr 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reaan (Hussonet) out of the Gr II Moonee Valley Oaks winner Ribe (Danehill).

Lot 56 Br C Zoustar x Pretty In Pink by Sebring Consignor: - Segenhoe Stud

Second foal of a stakes-winning daughter of the talented stakes-placed Total Attraction (Nadeem).

A sister to this filly sold here last year for $520,000. Named Shivermepink she has impressed in two barrier trials for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Lot 78 B F Kingman (GB) x Rainbow Falls (IRE) by Dubawi - Consignor: Vinery Stud.

A European pedigree from a time-honoured Australian family, this filly is the second foal of an unraced sister to stakes-placed Dathanna and half-sister to stakes-placed Chamarel (Exceed and Excel), out of the Group III SAJC Breeders' Stakes winner Colour (More Than Ready) from the family of Snippets, Forensics, and Not A Single Doubt.

Fourth foal of ATC Sheraco Stakes winner Ravi, a sister to stakes-winner and successful stallion Elzaam.

A brother to this filly sold for $675,000 here last year and her Pierro colt made $1,500,000 in 2022.

Reelem In Ruby’s dam Bobine (Giant’s Causeway) is a half-sister to Possibly Perfect (Northern Baby) the Champion turf filly in USA in 1995.

A real Star Thoroughbreds flavour about this son of Golden Slipper winner Farnan.

A half-brother to the undefeated Astern colt Admonish, he is the second foal a 4-time winning sister to the Gr II Silver Shadow Stakes winner and $1.6 million earner Fiesta.
