North to Make a Splash on Debut

North is a new name in the vendor index at Magic Millions this year and they are offering a top class draft of 14 yearlings in Book 1 and Kate Dallimore spoke with Maree McEwan about the new farm, which was formerly Kanangra Stud and is now owned by Mick Malone and his wife Pauline Alix.

Lot 48 Colt Ole Kirk x Pop Girl, by Snitzel

Second foal of metro winning daughter of multiple Group and stakes placed Music Review from a solid US Black Type family. Bred on similar Written Tycoon (sire of Ole Kirk) x Snitzel cross that has produced six SW’s headed by G2 winners Captured by Love and Marine One.

 

Lot 244 Filly Ole Kirk x Steamboat Sally by Snitzel

Second foal of a winning three-quarter sister to Group II winner Gunnison and daughter of Group II winner Colorado Claire and is bred on the same cross as the previous horse. First foal of the mare is Colorado Tycoon (2c Written Tycoon) and is in work with Team Hawkes, who trained Ole Kirk.

 

Lot 272 Filly Ole Kirk x Tang, by Redoute’s Choice

Half-sister to Group I VRC Victoria Derby runner-up Hit the Shot and stakes-placed Moroccan Rose, the dam of stakes-placed Kavak. From a sister to Group III winner Zestful and half-sister to the dam of Group II winner and MM 2YO Classic winner Military Rose with the family also producing new SW’s this season in Espionage (G3 Breeders Plate) and Katsu.

 

Lot 561 Filly Ole Kirk x Dancers, by Husson (Arg)

Half-sister to two winners with Ginger ‘n’ Pink (3f Zoustar) winning at Sandown and Caulfield since the catalogue went to print. Her grand-dam Viennese Lass is a full sister to Group I ATC Epsom Handicap winner Rediener with $9million earning G1 winning sprinter Private Eye also in the family as well as champion sire Snitzel.

 

Lot 377 Colt Farnan x Za Zi Ba, by All Too Hard

From the first crop of Golden Slipper winning Champion 2YO Farnan and is the second foal of stakes-placed Za Zi Ba, a half-sister to G1 winner Rediener and stakes-winner Rathlin, so the same family as the previous. First foal of the mare is Nouveau (2f I Am Invincible), who made $500,000 at this sale last year and is in work with Anthony and Sam Freedman.

 

Lot 1009 Colt Extreme Choice x Noaf, by Commands

Half-brother to a winner and is fourth foal of a winning three-quarter sister to Group III winner Swear and daughter of Champion NZ 2YO Filly Crossyourheart from a prolific Black Type family that has produced Gr1 winners Lucia Valentina, Danzdanzdance and All Thrills Too.
