Widden Sold Filly Wins $175,000 VOBIS Gold Carat

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 30

The richest race at Moonee Valley on Saturday was the $175,000 MVRC VOBIS Gold Carat (1200m) and the runaway winner was progressive filly Peace Treat, a $50,000 Inglis Premier Showcase Session purchase from Widden Stud for Roll The Dice Racing / Rogers Bloodstock.

Peace Treaty took her overall record to three wins from four starts with the Anthony and Sam Freedman trained daughter of National Defense (GB) bolting clear to win by more than three lengths as a short priced favourite.

In addition to the $96,250 winner's cheque, Peace Treaty collected more Super VOBIS bonus money and has now banked $187,250, proving a fine investment for her owners.

"She cost $50k and she won a VOBIS race at Ballarat on debut where she picked up a $30,000 bonus for the owners, and now she's probably put another $120,000 in the bin today, so we're thrilled," Rob Norton, of Roll The Dice Racing, said.

Peace Treaty is by Invincible Spirit’s Group I winning son National Defense, who shuttled to Victoria for three seasons and passed away prematurely in 2022.

She is the second winner from Relaunch, a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Cavaloce from the family of Group I winning sprinter Reactive.
