Katsu Triggers Firestorm on Family Search

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 21

Grahame Begg’s latest stakes-winner Katsu might have been a hidden gem in the Highway Session of Inglis Classic, but the speedy son of Mikki Isle (Jpn) comes from one of the most prolific Black Type families in Australia and there are so many breeders with a finger in this pie we just had to see how many yearlings in upcoming sales will see the benefit of Katsu!

Read more about Katsu here.

Katsu is the first stakes-winner for his dam Zing and Swing, but the interesting feature of the pedigree is third dam Summoned, a blue hen that left five stakes-winners headed by champion sprinter and sire Zeditave, while her daughters have spawned an exceptional dynasty of stakes performers.

There are no fewer than 16 yearlings catalogued for upcoming sales tracing to Summoned and you can see them here.

There are four in Inglis Classic , three of which are from the Zest branch of the family that produced Katsu and also this season’s Group III ATC Breeders Plate winner Espionage, plus six more from the Zest branch at Magic Millions.
