Modern Masterpiece

Joe Carbone - Tuesday December 19

The art of racing lays within the heart of the breeder, with each match up comes a stroke of the brush, a blank canvas turns to magic and history is made. For most it’s a small slice of paradise and pride but for those lucky enough to breed an above average specimen it is life changing in many ways.

The Autumn Sun

One of the very finest pieces of artwork in recent times is that of Arrowfield’s impeccably bred son of the late Redoute’s Choice in The Autumn Sun.

Being out of the Galileo mare Azmiyna (IRE) it was no surprise he continued to improve each time he stepped out, more experienced, more professional and with more ground to cover allowing time for that elite blood confined within to come to the fore.

I have no doubt had The Autumn Sun continued to race on the best and most freakish performances were still ahead of him. That said, his job on the track was more than fulfilled and breeders rejoiced as a new star was born.

Having somewhat of a tame start to his breeding career given the enormous expectation, nonetheless a big success so far and I am absolutely certain that he will produce champions now and into the future as his progeny are given the time to mature and the right mares find their way into his company.

Bred by Arrowfield and encompassing some of the very finest work of the Aga Khan dynasty, The Autumn Sun’s best progeny to date include stakes winners Autumn Ballet, Autumn Angel, Coco Sun and stakes placed Tulsi, Tutta La Vita and Kosgei.

The Autumn Sun has 12 yearlings entered in the upcoming Magic Millions 2024 Sale who will no doubt be heading into the very best and most professional stables across the country.

A renaissance of sorts, a particular style filled with colour and grace, as far as the breeding ranks are concerned in time he will find his way to the top.

On that note, whilst our very own masterpieces are taking shape I would like to wish our wider breednet family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year!
