Australian bred double in South Africa

Breednet - Sunday November 12
There was a South African double for Australian breds on Saturday starting with an impressive debut by an $875,000 yearling.

Dhabyaan as a yearlingDhabyaan was installed a very short priced odds-on favourite for his debut at Vaal and the Mike De Kock trained three-year-old never gave any real cause for concern in winning by over two lengths.

By Medaglia D'Oro from Kiss The Sun, Dhabyaan was offered by yarraman Park Stud at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, being knocked down to Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, in whose colours he races, for $875,000.

Kiss The Sun, by Anabaa, is a half-sister to Blue Diamond Stakes winner Undoubtedly and another former smart juvenile in Regal Kiss whose wins included the Reisling Trial Gr.2.

Dhabyaan is her second foal, the first being Kimberley Star (Star Witness), a stakes placed winner of three races. She has been to Star Witness twice since, with a yearling colt and a recently foaled filly.

The second Australia victory was three year-old Street Cry (IRE) colt Alshibaa, a homebred for Shadwell, another graduate of Yarraman Park having been foaled and raised there.

He had made his debut with a win at Turffontein in October and remains unbeaten after two starts.

He is the second foal and second winner for Asheerah, a winning Redoute's Choice daughter of Group I winner Rewaaya, a half-sister to the dam of Group I BRC Doomben Cup winner Sense of Occasion.
